In Rockland County, food insecurity is a significant issue, 1 in 7 (43,800 residents) living below the poverty level. Many seeking food assistance do not qualify for federal nutrition programs, relying instead on charitable support. The demand for food is rising each year, impacting not only the unemployed but also the working poor and middle class families, including underemployed and one working family member (source: Rocklandhunger.org).
We the church, responds with Matthew 25:35 in mind, seeing the utmost call to care for those in need, including providing for those in food insecurity.
Donate one non-perishable food item on the first Sunday of each month. All collected food will be donated to People to People of Rockland. Our contact is Frances Reid at rk645frn@aol.com.
